Mass Timber

While Eastern’s 75 years of experience began in traditional construction, our recent projects increasingly integrate mass timber structural systems for institutional, commercial, and infrastructure clients, showcasing exposed wood, creating warm, inviting interior spaces that support occupant comfort and well-being.
Eastern’s mass timber approach builds on our core strengths: collaborative relationships with design partners, disciplined construction planning, and an industrious site culture that prioritizes safety, schedule, and workmanship. This combination positions Eastern as a capable, reliable constructor for mass timber and hybrid projects.
Mass timber buildings are typically prefabricated, which means components are precisely manufactured off site and then assembled quickly on site. This approach can shorten construction schedules, reduce on site noise and disruption, and improve quality control.
In addition to its structural performance, mass timber is valued for its sustainability benefits. Eastern has an enviable portfolio of mass timber projects which has given our teams an advantage in understanding the intricacies of mass timber construction in North America. When sourced from responsibly managed forests, mass timber construction can significantly reduce the embodied carbon of a building when compared with conventional construction.
