University of Toronto Jackman Law Building

A renovation and expansion with tight restrictions.
Eastern Construction was selected as the Construction Manager for another project with the University of Toronto—the Jackman Law Building. The project team which included: Hariri Pontarini Architects, B+H Architects, RJC, and Smith & Andersen. Eastern was responsible for both the renovation and expansion to the Faculty of Law building at 78 Queen’s Park.
The building was situated within a vibrant urban location with tight site restrictions. The project scope consisted the complete demolition of the existing three-storey law library (interiors and envelope) as well as the partial structural demolition, construction, and tie-in of a new four-storey wing, all in the backyard of an existing heritage structure built in 1902 (Flavelle House). The project was designed and constructed to LEED Silver standards.
