Waterfront Toronto Queens Quay Revitalization

Queens Quay’s parcel of land measures 1.7 kilometres and is located within an active waterfront residential neighbourhood including commercial business and tourist destinations. The transformation of the Queens Quay into a world-class boulevard stretches east of Bathurst to Bay Street. Eastern’s scope of work included TTC track realignment and restoration, Toronto Hydro work, storm and sanitary upgrades, roadway, and public realm improvements. During the construction stage, traffic and transit operations were maintained and access to all residences and businesses was uninterupted. Major waterfront festivals and cultural events continued without interruption. Along with significant landscape improvements, the project included considerable upgrades to utilities/infrastructure.
The project was completed in June in time for 2015 Pan Am Games. The new Queens Quay is a waterfront showpiece and a must-see Toronto destination.
Of particular note is Eastern’s transit infrastructure work along Queen’s Quay. Eastern Construction was involved with the reconstruction of TTC Right-of-Way including the track bedding, track drains, placing of concrete, installation of traction power duct bank and 5m deep splicing chambers, installation of a variety of footings for overhead poles, installation of overhead poles, construction of TTC platforms, provision of power to the shelters and Ticket Vending Machines, and installation of stainless steel hand rails at the platforms.
