Ethennonnhawahstihnen’ Community Centre

Toronto’s largest community centre and first to be named in collaboration with the Huron-Wendat Nation.
Through a stipulated sum tender, Eastern was been selected to build the Ethennonnhawahstihnen’ Community Centre located adjacent Sheppard Ave E, between Bayview and Leslie. The facility is the first city community recreation centre and library branch in Toronto to be named in collaboration with the Huron-Wendat Nation.
The Wendat word, Ethennonnhawahstihnen’(pronounced Etta-nonna wasti-nuh), means “where they had a good, beautiful life. ”The new 209,000 sq ft Community Centre serves Bayview Village and Concord Park Place, an area that is home to over 12,000 residents. The multi-function facility includes the following features:
- Recreation space comprised of a double gymnasium with change rooms, indoor running track, fitness studio, weight room, art rooms, preschool room, games room, community hall with kitchen, multi-purpose rooms
- Six-lane lap pool, 25M in length
- Leisure pool with water play areas
- Toronto Public Library branch
- Childcare centre for 52 children with outdoor play areas
- Three levels of underground parking for approximately 418 cars
