UHN Peter Munk Entrance Pavillion

Eastern Construction is providing Construction Management services for the new fully glazed entrance pavilion to the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre (PMCC) at Toronto General Hospital, part of the University Health Network (UHN). The project establishes a prominent new west entrance to the hospital while maintaining ongoing hospital operations and ensuring patient safety throughout construction.

The scope includes demolition of the existing entrance portico and McEwan Atrium entrance, relocation of the driveway, and construction of a state-of-the-art pavilion featuring curvilinear structural glazing on the north, west, and south facades. Existing mechanical, electrical, and security systems are being extended into the new pavilion to ensure seamless integration with the hospital’s infrastructure.

Eastern Construction’s role includes coordinating temporary and enabling works, managing phasing and constructability, providing mechanical and electrical expertise, and ensuring the project meets the functional, aesthetic, and budgetary requirements of UHN. The project is being executed under CCDC 5B-2010 guidelines, with strict adherence to hospital safety standards, infection prevention and control protocols, and CSA requirements.
