Empress Walk Parking Garage and Shopping Centre

A Catalyst for Urban Transformation on Yonge Street
Covering two entire city blocks, Empress Walk is the largest, most diverse retail, entertainment and residential complex to be built in the Greater Toronto Area at the time. The project, located on a congested, busy urban site along Yonge Street was built by Eastern using the Construction Management approach with a contract value of $65 Million.
Empress Walk Phase II is comprised of four floors of underground parking, a below-grade concourse level, and two above grade retail levels measuring 240,000 sq ft. The third above-grade level is devoted to a 630,000 sq. ft movie theatre offering 3,035 seats on behalf of Cineplex Theatres and IMAX. The theatres surround a classic domed atrium.
The development is connected to the subway line and backs on a newly created public park. The project substantially contributed to the urbanization of Yonge Street and served as a catalyst for the redevelopment of a new secondary downtown in Toronto.
