Montcrest School Expansion & Renovation
Montcrest School is a co-educational community school located in Riverdale with a 54-year heritage.
Fostering intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and social/emotional development and well-being, Montcrest undertook a campaign to transform the school by constructing purpose-built facilities for grades six through eight. The new space, achieved through a combination of renovation and new construction, provides right-sized teaching spaces reflective of student needs, includes the Arts, Instrumental Music, Science, and iSTEAM programs.
Engaged early in the process, Eastern provided pre-construction services through 2016 and 2017. Construction was executed using three noncontiguous phases over a period spanning 2017 through 2018. Using a Construction Management approach, the scope of work included selective demolition, adaption of residential heritage structures, and expansion of campus facilities.
Throughout the project, the school remained fully operational, making this particular project both rewarding and challenging with Eastern placing great emphasis on the safety of students, staff, workers, property, and surrounding green spaces.
