Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel Renovations

The Sheraton Centre Toronto opened in 1972 and designed to complement the architecture of Nathan Phillips Square. In 2020, the Sheraton Centre Toronto began a revitalization of its public facilities and amenities to preserve the Hotel’s unique architectural essence while making the property more inviting. The scope of work included enhancements to the following areas of the hotel while it remains in operation:

• Porte-cochère
• Reception Area
• Lobby, Bars and Restaurant
• 43rd Floor Club Level
• 20th Floor Boardroom
• Level 3 Pool Deck, House, Change Rooms
• Back of House
• Interior / Exterior Signage
• Fire & Life Safety
• HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical

Construction started at Sheraton Centre in Q1 2021 and ran for 18 months. Sheraton used the Pandemic as an opportunity and shuttered the hotel, allowing Eastern to accelerate early phases. With nearly 400 Change Directives, schedule compliance was key and was therefore the biggest challenge on the project. As restrictions lifted, the hotel reopened in phases with Eastern working in an occupied facility as Sheraton increased scope to further leverage the opportunity to refresh the hotel amidst lower guest bookings. The project was divided into 12-phases, each with different turnover and occupancy dates.
